Show Me the PhysicsVideo Timer: measure exact times from your own video

0.0 s

Record your experiment with your camera, or open a video you already have.

Tip: for the most precise times, film at 60 frames per second. Any frame rate works (the app detects it), but at 60 fps each frame is 1/60 s instead of 1/30 s. iPhone: Settings › Camera › Record Video › choose 1080p at 60 fps. Android: open the Camera app, go to video settings, and choose 60 fps. For a wider view on a phone, tap 0.5× in the camera app before you record, and stand back so the whole motion fits in the frame.

Step frame by frame with the buttons or your arrow keys. Each step is one frame, so at 60 fps each step is 1/60 s ≈ 0.017 s.
